The Macbook is still in Transit from Shanghai, but…

Estimated delivery Nov 8, 2007 by 10:30 AM

Meanwhile, I'm trying to copy my music from my iPod to the Mac. I tried Senuti first and every other song or so it would fail, for no known reason (that is, I couldn't figure out the reason, Senuti apparently had one) and I'd have to click continue. With as many songs as I have, that's irritating as all.. well, yes.

So, I am using iPodDisk, which said at the beginning that some songs wouldn't be able to be copied, should I continue and just skip those songs? Hallelujah I tell you. About 28 minutes until it's done. All of this is in preparation for getting all of my data onto the new Macbook, using the Migration Assistant. (so that I need only pollute this computer with extra software, not the new one, and so that I can hit the Migration Assistant then do something else).

I picked up a Firewire -> Firewire cable last night, and I will have everything I've ordered by Friday; but the new Macbook by Thursday, so I'll have plenty of time to play with it before Tiayr arrives (lucky boy) if it gets here by the estimated time. You better believe I'll be up early Thursday, eagerly awaiting the delivery (by 10:30am, after all!)

Meanwhile, iPodDisk failed, but gave me the reason - the music was authenticated. I'll have to deal with my Purchased music separately, but I believe iTunes actually gives me an option for that. Then once that is all done I'll erase the iPod and get it into Mac format. I'll have to do that with my iPhone as well but moving my contacts over may be more trying. We'll see. The scariest part of this is going to be moving the last billion years of email over; I don't dare lose any of it; and I'll probably do that directly to the new Macbook rather than tot his machine.

I also will need to install Windows on the Macbook since I'll need my Quicken, which also has to be moved over. I hear that Quicken for the Mac stinks, and since I already own Windows Quicken; I'll just run it in Parallels or Fusion; speaking of which - deciding which one to use, without any knowledge of either, is a pain in the y'know-what.

I'm so excited, whee!
