So - a long time ago I blocked robots and killed my site off the search engines. This was done to protect myself - you see, I didn't want future employers to go searching and find something "questionable" here. I think that I keep my posts fairly clean, albeit occasionally cynical - but I honestly don't think that they reflect me in a negative light.
But -- future (or current? I haven't had any complaints from my co-workers =) ) employers might not agree. I don't even mean immediately, I mean 15, 10, 20 years down the line. The web bots archive everything, Google keeps information around seemingly forever.
Sites like Facebook get a lot of negative criticism on this because they allow employers to see students' blogs. I don't think I have anything questionable posted here and I think that the site has been and will be fairly clean; I honestly believe that - except for some technical writing issues (these posts aren't formal papers, you know?) - the site reflects well on me.
Heck, I even link posts to my folks. That means something, right?
What do you all think? Let the search engines in so people can find me? It may even mean finding some of those folks I've lost contact with.
