Should I purchase a Wii?

Should I get one? Well? Should I?

I can't decide.

Only if I get to play with it.

Sadness whispers her condolences; for the greatest tragedy of all is love lost.
But the greatest virtue belongs to those who will give everything to love again…
It is a test.

They’re incredibly fun, I’d vote yes.

Hmmm. No. You should get WoW and come play with me. LMAO

Seriously, meh, I dunno. Are you really into gaming? We have a PS2, and I can’t even remember the last time I played a game on it. Oh wait, yes I can. It was before I got WoW…..

This is me, hopeless…LOL! If you get a Wii, might I suggest encasing the TV in unbreakable material? *wink*

You should get one but i would wait for a bit, there still aren’t that many top quality games for it, but some are coming down the pipe. But having said that Wii Sports is pretty fun to play.

I pretty much quit WoW the other day.  I hated logging in, to the point I was procrastinating WoW more than I had ever procrastinated a paper.  So I posted my quit notice to my raiding guild.

I have always enjoyed console games - I haven’t had time for them in the last few years, other than some DDR on my PS2.  But the Wii really sparks my interest with its interactive activity and the games available.

The TV gets slept on and climbed upon by the cats - I think it can handle a Wii.  I wish there was a high def version, though.

But I’m sure there’s something in a shade of grey…
Something in between…

Yes, the Wii is really kind of fun. Its true that there’s a limited selection of top notch games available up to now, but playing with the wiimote is great. Don’t compare graphics to the other big two - thats where the Wii falls short.

Oh - and try to find out if the Wii will play with your Wifi equipment nicely. With my WRT54GS and DD-WRT firmware, connecting to the internet is a nightmare…

I’ve had mine for two weeks, and love it.  Sports is an excellent first disc to own.

480p with a big tv kinda blows.  As others have said, make sure that your router/firmware is not in the nintendo “no worky” list.

Yea I have a 42” plasma high def tv.  I’m not too excited about the Wii’s graphic, I’d seriously pay more for a high def version.

Hrm, I have a WRT54G with default firmware.  But the Wifi .. is that really important?  I never did bother playing my Playstation on their network - is the Wii that much more internet reliant?

At this point the WiFi isn’t that important.  Online gaming is coming but isn’t here yet, so I’d say the best thing about having it online is the 24Connect service which in theory will automatically download game updates.

Some of the Wii channels (weather, news, and the Opera browser) would obviously need it.  As would any games you might be interested in purchasing online.

Lastly, you can always go wired via Wii Lan Adapter if the WiFi is a pain.

Thanks, DF.  I did go ahead and order the Wii - it’s still “processing” and since no stores around here have it, I figure I’ll be waiting a bit.  Should be fun though - I’ll get Wifi working, too, probably - or sit here being annoyed by it. ;)
