New bay window in master.

New Bay Window,

Well then, I did not expect this to come through to the weblog. I forgot I set that up! So, over the last week the exterior remodeling on my house has been taking place. New windows all around and new siding on three sides. As part of doing this, I updated the configuration on three windows.

  • The french doors in the dining area changed to a slider so as to have a screen, and to not have the door swinging interfering with space usage.

  • The master bathroom had two windows because it was separated into two walls. I had those two windows reconfigured into one large window, that opens on both sides.

  • The master bedroom had two windows, I had that reconfigured into a huge bay window. The bay window change is what you see here after I decorated with spare crap around the house.

There are more photos on Flickr, including the unfinished images without the blankets and pillows. A lot has yet to be done, and I'll need to re-trim all of these (and will re-trim all windows at the same time. Get rid of this oak trim or whatever it is). Having the windows replaced was a huge inconvenience, and I had to keep Elka on a leash in the house so she wouldn't go out a window and out the open gate into the wide, wide world. Cats had to be convinced to stay in one room or not go in the bedroom, depending on which windows were being done.

There were some mishaps. The loft windows are not yet in because they were mis-measured and because he mistakenly ordered picture windows rather than functioning windows. The new ones are on a rush. Also, the master bathroom does have a little crack in the bottom corner of one pane, which the company will come out and fix.

Overall I am super, super excited about how everything is turning out. The amount of money going into the house is terrifying, but I am sure that it will all pay off in the long-run (though I'd probably eat a loss if I tried to turn around and sell it now.)

Can't wait for the construction to end, though. =)
