I've been feeling a site re-design for a long time now. But everytime I try to re-do the site I end up sticking with the top banner, and it's really hard for me to break away from this design. I really like that top banner and I really like my site. But I want something new, brighter maybe. In May, if things go as planned, there will be big changes to my life, an it seems like this site should also follow suit.
But damned if I know what to do with it.
I did do some work on this site, though. With Derek's help I optimized the site load times, bringing it down from an average 3.5 seconds to .2-1 second. Not a bad change, eh? I love it when it loads in .2 seconds. I also updated behind-the-scenes and that gave me some other ideas. Vague, aren't I? I love being vague. Maybe I should just continue to tweak but within this design, since I do like it.... sigh
I love the top banner too. What about changing the colours of it and working around that? If you see what I mean.
Changing the banner is out of the question. Stephanie’s site grants us allowance to use her graphics on personal sites, but without alterations other than resizing (and of course, resizing without distortion).
I kind of like the color scheme. I’ve changed it a few times based off different parts of the photo, so I could do that. Hrm.
But I’m sure there’s something in a shade of grey…
Something in between…
How about using the ray of light in the top banner as the main color in your new theme? It would be a different twist than using the shades of green.
Hrm, that would certainly brighten things up quite a lot….
But I’m sure there’s something in a shade of grey…

ExpressionEngine performs great under high load. If this were to be a high load site I’d probably want to tweak my templates a bit more, but they’re fairly lean.
No need to test it under high load. This is the load, or slightly more, that I’d always expect. Load-testing doesn’t apply to dem, and that’s how I want it. =)
But I’m sure there’s something in a shade of grey…
Something in between…
No because, like I said to you directly, if this site’s load ever increases that much I’m taking it down.
Plus, it’s professionally hosted and Nevin is brilliant. If the site load increased that much I would rely on his skills to put this on a server that was ready for that type of load.
But… dem’s load would have to increase exponentially for that to be a problem.
But I’m sure there’s something in a shade of grey…
