Last week.

Chris left yesterday afternoon, which was very sad. Elka spent the evening sulking and has been pretty quiet this morning; she got quite attached to Chris during his visit.

Last week Chris helped me purchase some new appliances for the kitchen, as well as a new desk. The new desk went very well. The new appliances? Not so much. The dishwasher was back-ordered so I got a different one, and that one fit but was a very tight fit.

The fridge fit but we had some trouble finding the water shut off valve.

The range didn't fit. The granite had to be cut (and cut a second time); the butcher block cut, and the corner of the drawers shaved down a bit. That'll all be fixed today.

I also spray-painted the knobs to match the new appliances. A new ceiling fan, chandelier, and kitchen lighting fixture are being installed right now.

I also got the new canopy for the tank, with all the awesome lighting. That, too, did not fit. My guy is fixing that today for me as well. Chris and I did sand it and get it to fit fairly safely but it stuck out a lot since we couldn't get into the corner. The lights, though, are gorgeous and we did add new corals to the tank as well. It's brilliant. The paint job on the canopy leaves a lot to be desired unfortunately, but that can b admist e fixed later and it looks decent when viewed at a normal viewing distance. Ultimately I'm thinking a new, very custom canopy is in order, or something. For now, this will work.

Chris and I did manage to have some fun amidst all the stress, and I feel refreshed and ready to work. This was a pretty easy morning, which was quite nice.

I have someone coming to give me estimates on several different "larger" jobs. Siding, windows, attic refinishing, master bathroom remodel, and guest bathroom resurfacing. Siding, windows, and master bathroom will be done quite soon. The others are curiosity/long-term projects.

Fun times; I'll have to stay here for a century to make it worth it.
