Interterm - Take 1

So I just got out of my first class of the day. All of the classes are critical reading of one book. This one is Reading National Geographic. It flew by. Nice professor, interesting materials. The only output is a 5 page Powerpoint presentation of 5-7 minutes on the last day of class, that being Friday.

The next class I have is a book bi DiPrima: Recollections of my life as a woman. I've already read the first 40 odd pages, we have to do 80 pages a night for the class, so I'm a bit ahead. The only output for this is a one-page response paper a day, right before class. This is to promote actually having people do the reading so that we can have a critical discussion. I'm enjoying the book so far, it's well written, beautiful, thoughtful prose: very evocative. That class is all this week, 1:30-3pm. I didn't see this being problematic.

This particular pair of classes doesn't involve any weekends, by Friday I'll have these two credits under my belt. They're also graded S/U (Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory) so they're fairly laidback, easy classes. Honestly, I think I prefer this to doing nothing in January. I'm kind of wishing I'd done an interterm class in each of my previous Januarys. Alas....

The only part of this that saddens me is that I had an invitation to go to CES, which is this week. I can't because of the classes, so not only do I miss out on all the orgasmic tech goodies, I don't get to hang out with a very close and dear friend. I was actually going to go to Vegas for this until my credit shortage reared its ugly head. :(
