A new journey, a new reflection.

(Ok, first. This is being re-posted. Nevin at EngineHosting saved me from my own stupidity. Foks - never underestimate the importance of an amazing host: EngineHosting is the best.)

Now, to re-post this.

dem has undergone a major transformation. In light of the crux that my life is undergoing: my graduation, a move in August when my lease ends, and other related changes; I feel that dem also needed a change.

That girl who the image from Shadowscapes represented is still there, looking towards the light in the early morning; but this change - the completion of that journey and the beginning of a new journey needed to be reflected in dem. A site that had lasted me for a solid four years needed to change to reflect my own changing life.

This new image and color scheme reflect, I hope, the joy and brightness of a new beginning; a beginning that includes close friends, beloved pets, and a beautiful, glowing day filled with sunshine.

In the next few days I will post some of the infrastructure choices I made, including how I leveraged Solspace's amazing Permission module which forms a backbone to every set of entries there is on this site. Crimson also helped a ton with some help with the image and lots of constructive criticism.

Anyway, please comment here if you notice any bugs or problems with the site.

And so...

Onwards!

Gooood Morning! :)

Well, I *have* a question about a bug, but it has nothing to do with your site & entirely with mine. LOL.

When I was over at SolSpace reading up on the permission module, I saw the Acronym mod (which I see, green with envy, I might add, LOL, that you’re using here…at least I think that’s it…)... I’ve always wanted something like this, so I decided to download it. Put it in place exactly according to their directions….and guess what? I couldn’t install it. Grrr!

When I’d click the “Install” link next to the module in the list, it returned a syntax error. Now, I have to admit….I can install php based scripts and get them running (usually) in no time; but when faced with a syntax error, I admit defeat.

Since I can’t find any troubleshooting info on their website about it, do you know perhaps what might be the problem? Many thanks! (Oh, and please feel free to smack me if this is just a huge brain fart. Ha!)

I’m glad you’re back. The comment section is now working for me now obviously also!

I’m not sure, Maevyn.  I’ve had mine installed for… 2 years?  If you post on the Modules forum, or email Solspace (He has a contact form linked at the bottom of his site) I’m sure it can be resolved quickly.

And yes - Acronym handles both the recurring links (to EE, to Solspace, etc) as well as the hovers for acronyms. =)

But I’m sure there’s something in a shade of grey…
Something in between…

You forgot to thank me for my patience while you both yelled at me and got snippy (sometimes at the same time)... Yes folks, Lisa always uses me as her whipping boy… and not in the fun way. ;-)

Sadness whispers her condolences; for the greatest tragedy of all is love lost.
But the greatest virtue belongs to those who will give everything to love again…
It is a test.

Yes, whipping boy, you’ve repaid a bit of the help I’ve given you.  Now go re-do your site dammit.

Seriously - without Crimson here this site would not have been re-done.  So . . . thank you. =)

Magically fix my PC so I can actually re-do my site… damn Windows…

Lisa, love the new look!  Very… what’s the right word… “hopeful and forward looking”.  OK, 3 words.

The headers have an unparsed {givememeta} at the top though.

Works great Lisa!

Thank you, Derek.  I had added {givememeta} before actually creating the variable. You got me in the middle of re-adding meta tags!  But that is all fixed now.

I just have to add next/prev rel, links; and pagination to the front-page, then fix up the gallery (not even sure if I’ll nuke that and re-start or not) and I can leave this thing alone.

Wonder if I should post a site intro… *grins*

Thanks for the feedback!
