A box a day…?

Got 9 boxes packed. Two bags of clothing to donate. Threw out a bunch of stuff.

Also, Derek let me know that Google Reader is being blocked from hot-linking, and thus those of you utilizing Google Reader are getting the sexy lesbian devils doing uh, stuff - rather than the images I actually post. I'll try to fix that soon - mostly because I don't like delivering non-work-safe material because some of you do view the site at work (naughty, naughty!). I would like to block Google in general while allowing the reader in, but it's not in its own separate domain and my mod_rewrite skills suck; which is why I have not yet fixed it. I'll probably just let the whole thing in, and maybe even un-block search engines via robots.txt while I'm at it. I'm pretty comfortable with the comments that I make, and certainly my wonderful, amazing employers (hi!) haven't complained about what I say, so what am I hiding? Quite honestly, if I'm looking for a job in 10 years or whatever and they find some post where i used the word s-e-x at some point and decide not to hire me because of that, then, well... I'm probably happier finding a different job?

Ultimately I think people should be careful about what they post - because it ends up in fifty gazillion archives and caches and whatever; but there's also some compromise. People have personalities, thank goodness, and that comes through in this site - personally, I think it comes through in an acceptable manner. But that is something I am aware of can have some consequences down the road.

Of course, I'm not worried now. I seriously love my job, and while I may be wildly off (yesterday and today have been somewhat trying) I think that things are going well with it.

It will be a huge relief to finally be out in Oregon and have this whole second job thing out of the way - that is, the move. It seriously feels like it is a second, full-time job; and not one I enjoy. You think I get practice with dealing with people on the forum? That ain't nothing compared to the sheer amount of patience I have to exert in dealing with these moving companies - and that's just getting quotes. Is customer service from these companies always so damn non-existent? 5 of the companies have had reps call me from cell-phones (to my land-line) and the phones kept disconnecting/breaking up/etc. 3 of the representatives had to ask somene else the answer for every single question that I posed. 1 of the reps had an accent so strong that I understood every 5th word at most - and it didn't help that they also had a horrible cell-phone connection. I have no problem with folks with accents - but combine a really strong accent with a line that goes silent for 4 out of 5 seconds and you don't end up with a customer.

I'm receiving quotes form Allied and Northern Van Lines. They're the big players in the business. Allied is 75 years in business, and they offer in-home estimates. I'm hoping to have everything booked by Friday but because of the 4th being a holiday, it looks like I might not get it all booked until Monday.

I saw the vet today. I'll have Mali's current blood-work and urine culture results by Friday. I have a good, solid plan for moving the cats. Off meds Friday. A very light dinner Friday night. Water restrictions for both cats to avoid any accidents in the carriers. No meds until Saturday night in my new apartment. Pick up Rescue Remedy and start use immediately. Use lots of Feliway sprays and plugins. Get to a vet the first week after arrival. Dr. Allen is amazing, and I seriously wish that I could keep her as my vet somehow while in Oregon. Alas...

So much to do, it's crazy.
